Veges are cheap

I went to the central market with my mother after breakfast. We bought a few types of veges so that we don't have to go to market everyday since there are only three people in the house. The veges in Seremban are still quite cheap. In fact, I think they are very cheap compared to where I used to live.

I bought choy sum, gai choy, gai choy from China, cucumbers, tomatoes and beans.

These choy sum costs RM2

Gai choy costs RM2. My mother likes to fry it with garlic and some ginger. She cuts the stem very thin and chop up the leaves. She will add salt and a bit of sugar (not too much) so that it won't taste too bitter.

These are gai choy from China. They taste exactly the same as the normal gai choy above except that they look a bit like choy sum. The bunch is RM1. We ate this yesterday, cooked the same way as the gai choy above. Can you believe that RM1 for a plate of veges at home? My friends from Penang didn't believe me when I told them that the veges in Seremban market are cheap. They sell in bunches and most are RM1 a bunch.

Cucumbers costs RM1.40. These are smaller cucumbers. I peel them, take out the center and marinate them with vinegar and sugar.

Tomatoes cost RM1. They are medium size. I can't believe how cheap they are myself!

Beans cost RM2, RM1 per bag. Unbelievable!
Altogether, I spent RM9.40 on veges and these will last us at least three days of veges supply at home for the three of us.

Starting of my holidays

This morning I had breakfast with some friends at Min Kok Restaurant for dim sum. Min Kok is one of the best places for dim sum in Seremban. They have a lot of different types of dumplings and they taste different. Some restaurant's dim sum taste the same for everything.

Siu mai is one of my favarites. I always order this whenever I go for dim sum. To me, this is the dish to determine whether any dim sum place is any good. Min Kok's siu mai is good.

This is “Chinese chives dumpling”, it tastes good but not enough chives inside. You can't really taste the chives if you like the special chives taste.

Min Kok is also good at the deep fried dim sum. My favourite is deep fried prawn dumpling with salad dressing.

They have stuffed vegetables “yong tao foo” too and we had stuffed eggplants.

This was yummy too.

Then, as we finish eating, my father received a phone call from our next door neighbour. My neighbour is an Indian Family. The guy called because he thought we were at home. His wife and two young children were at home. The children were playing outside with their gate locked. But two guys jumped over the fence to rob them. The wife was terrified because the robbers took her necklace and left. She activated the alarm. A police car was nearby, heard the alarm and investigated. But the husband called my father thinking we were at home. He told my father that his wife was robbed.

I was worried that maybe my father heard the news wrong because why would the neighbour called to tell him that they got robbed. Maybe they saw our place got robbed and informed my father. So we went home immediately to investigate. Got home and we found the police car parked in front of our neighbour's house.

It is a worry now that robbers are more desperate. They are targeting people at home instead of breaking in when you are not home. So be more alert when we are at home. We shouldn't leave the front door unlock thinking that we are safe with the front gate locked.
